So much to learn…

The Life so short, the Craft so long to learn. ~Hippocrates

Since starting this blog I’ve been reading a number of professional websites and blogs. I am feeling both inspired and overwhelmed at the same time! There is so much to learn!

Just today I discovered Ellen Gormley’s blog, Go Crochet, which is a lovely mix of patterns, tips, tricks and stories about life in the world of the professional crocheter. In fact I liked her blog so much I’ve added a link over in my Blogroll sidebar!

One of Ellen’s entries is on her favorite stitch, which is a Front Post double crochet (FPdc). About this stitch she says “It creates cables and ribs, it encourages stretch in the project. Rarely do I do a project that doesn’t have a FPdc in it somewhere.” I’d never even HEARD of this stitch before — which just goes to prove my point of how much I have to learn!

In other news, I’ve learned to make simple flowers, via this wonderful tutorial on the greetingarts blog. I made the choker in about 2 hours and the earrings in about the same.  Click on the photo to go to my ETSY store!

Stress and Stitches

Stitch your stress away. ~Author Unknown

I must be stressed lately for I am not only stitching crochet-ing at a ridiculous rate but also I have created this blog about it!

In the last two weeks I have

  • been 3x to my local craft store
  • been 2x to my local discount store (searching for yarn on the cheap, no luck)
  • made and added 2 projects to my ETSY store (including 1 hat)
  • made 1.25 hideous hats that need to be scrapped
  • made 2 more granny squares for my ‘never-ending orange blanket’ project
  • made 1 secret gift for Kerri (photos and pattern coming soon!)
  • read seemingly innumerable webpages of free crochet patterns
